SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 9-30-22

September 30, 2022

Our first dine out of the year begins this Sunday and we’re partnering with Tutta Bella! Make dinner easy as pie while helping raise funds for our PTSA programs!

  • When: Sunday, October 2nd – Thursday, October 6th, 2022
  • Where: Tutta Bella Kirkland (QFC in Kirkland Urban) is likely where most Bell families will go, but the code is valid at ALL Tutta Bella restaurants from 10/2-10/6, so encourage you family and friends in other locations to support Bell PTSA.
  • How does it work? Order a meal from Tutta Bella from October 2-6 via dine-in, delivery, takeout, or curbside from tuttabella.com. Use the coupon code EasyAsPieBellPTSA at checkout and 20% of sales will be donated to the Bell PTSA.
    • The code cannot be used on 3rd party delivery sites (UberEats, DoorDash, etc)
    • At the Kirkland/University Village grocery store kiosks, orders must be placed from tuttabella.com – not the registers in QFC

Thank you to Whitney Takaba for coordinating this fundraiser for our school!

On October 3-7 join us and millions of other students, parents, and teachers all over the country and walk to school!

Walking and biking to school is a fun way to get exercise, reduce congestion and pollution around schools, and create community. Studies say students who walk and bike to school arrive more alert and ready to learn!

Every morning of the week the PTSA will have tables set up where students can enter into a daily raffle to win prizes! One winner per grade will be announced each day. Tell your students to be on the lookout for a special mystery guest!!!

We still have a few open volunteer slots. If you'd like to help out with with greeting and raffle tickets sign up here!

Get ready for game time! The PTSA's annual donation drive is coming up October 10-14. We have a fundraising goal of $40,000 and a fun class competition to help get us to our goal. Rules of the game will be announced next week.

Last year Coberly's class was the big winner! Who will it be this year?

The Bell PTSA is thrilled to bring math competitions to Bell Elementary this year! We have three competitions scheduled for the 2022-23 school year:

We'll be opening registration for the Fall Noetic Math Contest next week on our PTSA website.

  • This contest is open to Bell students in 2nd - 5th grade.
  • Registration fee is $15 per student (registration open from 10/3 - 10/15).
  • The contest will be held after school at Bell, within the contest window set by NLMC: 11/10 - 11/23.
  • To enroll your student (2nd - 5th grade only), please complete the Fall 2022 Noetic Math Contest form on our website. (Go to "my account" in the top left corner, "my forms/paperwork" and scroll down to the "new forms" section). Registration will open 10/3.

We need a minimum of 20 students in order to host the Noetic Math Contest. If the minimum is not met, the registration fee will be refunded.

We are so grateful for the amazing volunteer turnout this year! Thanks so much to everyone who has signed up to help with PTSA programs and events. If you're wanting to get involved check out our current volunteer opportunities below.

For the safety of our students, all volunteers must:

Be approved as a volunteer through LWSD

Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination (can be shown at front office)

Visit LWSD's volunteer page for information on how to apply.

Art lessons with Ms Lustgarten began this week! Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping our little artists in the classroom.

There are still a few more volunteer spots for fall art lessons. If you can help, please sign-up (link below) and plan to arrive 10 minutes before the lesson time listed below to help with any set-up and to stay 10 minutes after to help with clean-up.

Our VP of Community Events and our Harvest Party Chair are beginning to plan our fall Harvest Party and would love a helping hand. We are looking for an event co-chair who loves fall festivities to help plan fun themed activities and trunk or treating logistics. If you're interested in helping with Harvest Party planning, contact us at communityevents@agbellptsa.org.

Pantry Packs are weekly food packs confidentially sent home with families identified as food insecure (more information about the Pantry Packs program below).

We need weekly volunteers to deliver Pantry Packs to classrooms at Bell. Deliveries are generally done on Thursdays after school. Sign up here to help!

The Bell PTSA rolls our popcorn machine outside (usually two Fridays per month) and we start poppin'. As the students head out for lunch recess, we are there waiting with fresh bags of popcorn. Bell students love Popcorn Friday, and so do we!

We need volunteers for every Popcorn Friday. Please sign-up!

Visit our Popcorn Friday page for more info.

Popcorn is $0.50 per bag - purchase a popcorn pass today

Did you know the Bell PTSA works with the Lake Washington Schools Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) to provide food to Bell families-in-need every week? We sure do! We pick up food bags from the Lake Washington Schools Foundation, then we purchase fresh produce and additional food items to add to each food pack. Once the bags are packed, we distribute them to the families. We need support to run this program! Here are all the ways you can help:

1) Donate food directly to Bell families via our Amazon wish list

2) Donate funds to support Bell families in-need

3) Donate gift cards (Fred Meyer, QFC, or Costco) or non-perishable food

4) Sign-up to help deliver pantry packs to classrooms.

5) Donate food or funds to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation to support the program across the entire district.

More info can be found on our Pantry Pack page.

Our school counselor reached out to the PTSA with a need for grocery and gas gift cards to support families in our school community. If you are able to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are working closely with the school counselor to identify families who need support and to determine exactly what resources are needed (note: all family info is confidential between the school counselor and the family. The PTSA is only provided the list of needs).

We will continue to update this signup as needs arise throughout the year. Please sign-up below and drop the item(s) off at Bell (Attn: school counselor). If you are unable to drop-off the item(s), please email president@agbell.org and we will come to you to pick-up the donated item(s).

We are also taking direct donations, which will be used to purchase gift cards, groceries, or other items for Bell families in need.

If you have not already ordered school pictures, there is still time!

The most efficient and cost-friendly way to order is to visit mydorian.com, search for A. G. Bell Elementary, click the green Order button that corresponds with your school picture day and place your order. This option is available for up to four (4) days after picture day.

Once all of the images have been processed. Any student that has not ordered will receive an email with a unique access code and instructions to preview their image and place an order. All orders placed using the unique access code will be shipped directly to the student’s home.

Did you miss picture day or want to retake your picture?

A. G. Bell’s retake day will be Thursday, November 3. A student wishing to have their picture retaken should bring their original package back to school and return it to the photographer on retake picture day.

Digital downloads are delivered based on how you ordered.

If you ordered an image download online, you will receive an email with access to your image once it is ready. If you ordered with an envelope, you will receive your download instructions when packages are distributed at the school.
