SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 3-4-22

March 4, 2022

Bell PTSA has teamed up with GOALS Soccer to offer a soccer enrichment program during lunch recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Two trained soccer coaches are at each lunch recess facilitating the games. This program is open to all students who wish to participate. There is no cost to families, this program is funded by the Bell PTSA.

Thank you to our VP of Student Enrichment, Keri Morgan, for bringing this awesome program to Bell.

We’d love to get more volunteers to help. We promise you'll have a blast! If you’re able to help on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 12:00-2:00, please sign-up HERE.

Since we had only received two entries as of last week, we extended the deadline for the yearbook cover contest to March 31. We are thrilled to see so many entries coming in this week. Click the video image below to see the submissions.

This year’s theme is: Expect the Unexpected

What does that look like to your student? Have them create their artistic vision, take a photo of it (or scan it), and email it to yearbook@agbellptsa.org

Be sure to keep the original art, as we may need it. Visit the Yearbook Cover Contest page for more info. Questions: email yearbook@agbellptsa.org

Did you know the Bell PTSA creates the yearbook each year? Yep, we do that too! Our amazing yearbook chair, Dawn Matsui Liu, has been working hard on creating this year's yearbook and it's looking amazing! Thank you, Dawn. Here are a few need-to-know items:

  • Photos can be uploaded on TreeRing until May 15.

  • Yearbooks can be ordered anytime. Please ship them direct to your home, not the school. Effective March 15, TreeRing is increasing shipping costs by $1. If you order prior to March 15, you will not incur this increase.

  • Preschool families: Pre-k has been added to the yearbook, as of last year. Get your photos uploaded before May 15, and place your yearbook orders!

  • 5th grade parents:  Please submit a dedication to your 5th grader in this year's yearbook! Upload a favorite photo to the 5th Grade Dedications folder in TreeRing and add a caption with your best wishes for them as they make the transition to middle school. You can also send the photo and caption to yearbook@agbellptsa.org. All 5th grade dedication photos must be uploaded by May 1.

Visit our yearbook page for more info.

We need more help in the lunchroom. The Bell PTSA recently relaunched the composting and food donation programs during lunch. We need one volunteer at each lunch period to help with the following:

  • Help students dispose of their food appropriately (compost & garbage)
  • Collect uneaten/unopened foods for the food bank (e.g., uneaten fruit, unopened milk, unopened packaged items, etc)
  • Take the food from the collection bins and put them in the donation fridge (and document the donations).

Please sign up HERE to help. We will meet you on your first shift and walk you through everything.

High Trek Adventures Everett is teaming up with the Bell PTSA to encourage our students to develop strong reading habits as well as experience outdoor adventures in the PNW!

If your student completes and records 8 hours of recreational reading in the month of March, they will earn a voucher from High Trek Everett valued up to $50.

Visit our Read 4 Adventure page for more information and a printable reading log.

Bell will be hosting a Girls on the Run team for 3rd-5th grade girls this spring.

  • Practices will be held outdoors at Bell on Tuesdays & Thursdays from March 22nd - May 24th with a celebratory 5K on May 22nd.
  • Please see these national and local promotional videos for more information. Space is limited: click here to register.
  • We welcome parents or staff members who would like to volunteer as a coach or 'Superstar Supporter'. Contact Kelly Keller for more information: kellymkeller@gmail.com.

Thank you, Kelly Keller, for organizing this awesome program for Bell. And thank you, Keri Morgan and Erin Barr, for joining as coaches!

Last week, five supplemental budgets were released: the House and Senate operating budgets, House capital budget, and both House and Senate transportation budgets. While there are several similarities, the budgets took different approaches to some of the biggest issues this session, including school district enrollment stabilization. Read this week's full report from WSPTA's Legislative Consultant, Marie Sullivan.

Volunteers are allowed back in the school building. In order to reduce risk and exposure, only one volunteer will be allowed in each classroom at a time. We have LOTS of ways to lend a helping hand and we definitely need some help!

All volunteers must:

  1. Be approved as a volunteer through LWSD
  2. Be fully vaccinated - proof of vaccination must be provided

Visit LWSD's volunteer page for information on how to apply and provide proof of vaccination.
