This last year and a half has been challenging for all of us on many levels. Many of us have been impacted emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually. Our students have been challenged, as have our teachers and staff who are supporting our students.

Many students are still adjusting to being back in a classroom (or learning classroom expectations for the first time). This is a difficult time of transition for many, and Bell staff are handling it with immense grace and professionalism - they are doing a tremendous job.

We ask all students and families to please take a moment to show your gratitude to Bell staff. Here are a few ideas:

This month is also National Principals Month - be sure to show your gratitude to Brian and Sara as well. We are all so lucky to be Bell families!

Did you know that Bell PTSA implemented a composting program at Bell Elementary in 2019, which resulted in more than a 50% reduction in our landfill contribution? The impact was substantial and we are extremely proud of this work.

Unfortunately, due to various constraints, there is currently no composting at the school. Now that volunteers are allowed back in the building, our goal is to get this program back up and running ASAP. Our kids need to get the consistent message that sustainability is important and caring for ourselves and our community means caring for our resources.

We are looking for 5 or so volunteers who are willing to help out in the lunchroom for about 2 weeks. if you can help, please email our sustainability chair, Amanda Gibson, at greenteam@agbellptsa.org.

The school counselor works with Bell families to identify unmet needs (e.g., food, clothing, toiletries, household items, etc,). She then provides a list of these needs to the PTSA (Note: the PTSA does not have visibility to any family or student information. This information is confidential between the school counselor and the families). We then work with the Bell community to collect and fulfill these needs. If your family needs support, please reach out to Bell's school counselor, Brenda Yin, at byin@lwsd.org.

If you can offer support by donating items, please sign-up here and drop the item(s) off at the front office. We added a few new items this week. Thank you!

Our Pantry Packs program provides weekend food-packs to food-insecure families at Bell to help them get through the weekend (when school meals are not available). Your continued food donations are much appreciated. Please donate food via our Amazon wishlist. Or, visit the Pantry Packs page for more ways to support this program.

The PTSA recently sent a survey to Bell teachers and staff asking them if they would like a room parent, and if so, how many. For the staff members who indicated they would like a room parent(s), we have created the below sign-up. We will continue to update this sign-up sheet as more request for a room parent come in.

  • If you're interested in being a room parent, please sign-up here
  • If you're a Bell teacher/staff, please complete this survey, so we can work to get you the support you may need.
