SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 9-16-22

September 16, 2022

What a fun Back to School Picnic! Thank you to everyone who came out to join us and a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who made it possible. Special shout out to Ms. Hynden and Ms. Whiteside for keeping the hot dog train rolling!

We're closing out the second week of school with 141 PTSA members! Thank you to everyone who has joined and a big thank you to Monica Peach for her work getting members entered into the database.

If you haven't joined yet, we'd love to have you! The PTSA's exclusive interest is in the health, welfare, safety, and education of our children. The more engaged and involved we are as a school community, the more our students and our school will thrive. Join us in supporting our school, staff, students, and community and become a member today!

As a reminder, all PTSA memberships expire at the end of each school year. If you haven't renewed your membership (or if you're new to Bell), join all the amazing teachers, parents, grandparents, and community members who make up our PTSA. Your membership, financial donations, and volunteering are what make our work possible.

Enrichment Class Enrollment Update

Karate Class has been opened up to all grades K-5!

The following classes have met enrollment minimum needed for class to be held:

Art - spots available, chaperone needed

Soccer - spots available

Chess - only 3 spots left!

Hip Hop - class full

Science - only 3 spots left!

The following classes have not met enrollment minimums:

Choir K-2 - needs 7 more participants, chaperone spot available

Snapology - needs 1 more participant, chaperone spot available

Choir 3-5 - needs 1 more participants, chaperone spot available

Karate - needs 2 more participants to hold class

If enrollment minimums are not met, class will be cancelled and tuition will be refunded. If you're enrolled in one of these classes, reach out to friends who might be interested in joining!

Visit our 6crickets portal for class schedule, descriptions and registration.

As with all of our classes, we MUST have a parent chaperone for each class. The chaperone must be a PTSA member (for insurance coverage). The main duties of the chaperone are to make sure the students are safe and where they're supposed to be, and to ensure there are two adults present at all times (one being the instructor). By chaperoning, your student gets free tuition. To volunteer to chaperone, email studentenrichment@agbellptsa.org.

Visit the enrichment classes page for more information on need-based scholarships.

We are looking for a chairperson to help plan fun activities that encourage neighborhood connectivity for Walk to School Week. Duties include a few hours of planning with our VP of Community Events leading up to the event and about 45 min of volunteering per day (8:45-9:30am) the week of Oct 3-7.

If you're interested in this volunteer opportunity, contact Erin at communityevents@agbellptsa.org

The Bell PTSA rolls our popcorn machine outside (usually two Fridays per month) and we start poppin'. As the students head out for lunch recess, we are there waiting with fresh bags of popcorn. Bell students love Popcorn Friday, and so do we!

We need volunteers for every Popcorn Friday. Please sign-up!

Visit our Popcorn Friday page for more info.

Popcorn is $0.50 per bag - purchase a popcorn pass today

School photos are scheduled for Monday, September 26th. We need a few volunteers to help out from 9:30 am until around 3 (end time can vary slightly). Volunteers will receive a coupon for a free picture package as a thank you!

Our first dine out of the year is here and we’re partnering with Tutta Bella! Make dinner easy as pie while helping raise funds for our PTSA programs!

  • When: Sunday, October 2nd – Thursday, October 6th, 2022
  • Where: Tutta Bella Kirkland (QFC in Kirkland Urban) is likely where most Bell families will go, but the code is valid at ALL Tutta Bella restaurants from 10/2-10/6, so encourage you family and friends in other locations to support Bell PTSA.
  • How does it work? Order a meal from Tutta Bella from October 2-6 via dine-in, delivery, takeout, or curbside from tuttabella.com. Use the coupon code EasyAsPieBellPTSAat checkout and 20% of sales will be donated to the Bell PTSA.
    • The code cannot be used on 3rd party delivery sites (UberEats, DoorDash, etc)
    • At the Kirkland/University Village grocery store kiosks, orders must be placed from tuttabella.com – not the registers in QFC

Thank you to Whitney Takaba for coordinating this fundraiser for our school!

Questions? - Please don't hesitate to contact us at president@agbellptsa.org.

Last year we noticed a lot of pet waste on the trails at Bell Elementary and we had more than a few kiddos stepping in dog poop (yuck!). A Bell parent contacted the city and had a pet waste station installed at the trail head on 112th street (thank you, Brandon). The city absorbed the cost of the installation; however, our community is responsible for restocking bags. We would appreciate dog bag donations. The specific type of bags used in this station can be purchased HERE. Please drop bag donations off at the front desk or ship them directly to Bell to the attention of the PTSA.

And as a reminder, please ALWAYS pick up after your pets!

Are you looking for some spiritwear for your kiddo or yourself?

Visit our spiritwear store to get your Bulldog gear!

Spiritwear can be purchased year-round.
