SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 1-7-22

January 7, 2022

The LWSD School Board voted on October 18, 2021 to place three levies on the February 8, 2022, ballot:

  • Educational and Programs Operations (EP&O) Levy - renewal

  • School Technology and Facilities Capital Projects Levy - renewal

  • Building Excellence Capital Levy (Capital Construction Levy) - new

During our last PTSA meeting, the members of the Bell PTSA voted to support and endorse these three levies. These levies are crucial. These levies fund the gap between state funding and what LWSD students need. We ask that you please vote yes.

Visit https://www.lwsd.org/education-levies for more information.

Visit https://vote4lwsdkids.org/ for ways to help get the word out (e.g., put a sign in your yard, phonebank, wave signs)

The students are LOVING Popcorn Fridays, as are we. Thank you, Leslie Victor, for chairing Popcorn Fridays, and thank you to all the volunteers!

We have noticed a number of our younger students (Kindergarten and 1st grade) don't have popcorn passes. When they come up and ask for popcorn, we always give them a free popcorn (the free bags are funded by Bell families who donate passes via our Pay-It-Forward program); however, we want to remind families that popcorn is $0.50 per bag. If your student wants popcorn, please purchase a popcorn pass or have your student bring cash.

Visit our Popcorn Friday page for more information and to purchase a pass. To volunteer at Popcorn Friday, please sign up here.

Note: If your student's popcorn pass is running low, you will receive an email from Leslie. If you have purchased a pass and have not heard from Leslie, then your student has a sufficient amount left on their pass.

As indicated in the email from Dr. Holmen on January 5, only "essential" volunteers are allowed in the building at this time. Given this, if you are currently signed up to volunteer for the art program or anything else inside the building, please do not plan on coming for your scheduled shift.

For those of you signed-up to help with outdoor lunch/recess or Popcorn Friday, please do come to your scheduled volunteer shift since these activities are outdoors. Bell will keep the outdoor dining hall open, given the surge in positive COVID cases. However, this option is contingent on volunteers. Please sign-up to help.

Visit our volunteer page to see all the ways you can help (without being in the building).

We need one more volunteer for the financial review in late January or early February. The financial review is a process where three people in the community review our finances to ensure sound fiscal management, sufficient documentation processes, etc. The process takes about 3 hours and is often done on a weekend or evening (via Zoom). We already have two volunteers signed up, we just need one more. One volunteer is a former PTSA President and will be able to walk you through the process. The other volunteer is a CPA. No experience is needed.

Please email president@agbellptsa.org if you can help.

This is the last weekend to take your family ice skating. The ice rink closes on January 9.

Mention "Bell" for each paid admission and a $3 donation will be made to the Bell PTSA!

  • Dates: November 19, 2021 - January 9, 2022
  • Location: Bellevue Downtown Park, 100 100th Ave NE (south of Bellevue Square)

Visit bellevueicerink.com for more information.

We recently created a community group on Facebook to provide a space for families to connect, share information, ask questions, and support one another. If you are looking to connect with other families in our school community, we encourage you to join the AG Bell Elementary Community Group and start a conversation!

Thank you, Keri Morgan, for creating this space for our families to connect.
