SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 1-20-23

January 20, 2023

Thank you to all of the volunteers who made Multicultural Night possible!

Thank you to the families who set up tables and shared traditions, crafts, games, music, and treats. It was so fun to connect and learn about the different cultures that make up our school community.

A very special thanks to our amazing event co-chairs Eda and Pinar, who went above and beyond to plan every special detail of this event, right down to the hand folded favors! Thank you for all of your work planning this event for our school.

This year's school play will be directed by Studio East. The students will be performing TheAmazing Adventures of Super Stan.

    • The play is open to 4th and 5th graders only
    • Register under My Forms/Paperwork via this website (scroll down to the Bell School Play form).
    • The cost is $150 per student.
    • Need-based scholarships are available. To apply, go to My Account > My Forms/Paperwork > Scholarship Application. Complete the scholarship application and wait for a response before completing the play registration form.

    • Every rehearsal session MUST have a chaperone who is a PTSA member (for insurance/liability purposes). Therefore, we encourage all parents who can volunteer to please do so.
  • MANDATORY PARENT MEETING: Mon Feb. 6, 2023 at 7pm (link to meeting will be sent to those enrolled).

Help us plan STEAM Night!

Planning for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (S.T.E.A.M) Night is underway. Monica, our Science Chair, has already lined up some awesome vendors for this February event. She'd love some help with the remaining planning logistics. Duties include: creating event promo materials, a volunteer signup, and helping with day-of event coordination on Feb 23, 5:30-8:30pm.

If you'd like to know more about this chair opportunity, please email president@agbellptsa.org

We'd like to bring Girls on the Run back to Bell this spring but we need 1-2 more volunteer coaches to make it happen. The time commitment is 1.5-3 hours of coaching time per week plus preparing for lessons (lesson manuals provided). You do not need to be a runner to coach. The program is just as much (if not, more) about social and emotional growth as it is about fitness.

SEASON DATES: The week of March 13th - week of May 22nd, 2023

END-OF-SEASON 5K: May 21st

If you're interested in learning more about coaching, email president@agbellptsa.org

We are looking for 2 more volunteers to serve on the nominating committee to help elect the 2023-2024 Bell PTSA Executive Board.

The nominating committee helps interested community members connect with the current board to learn more about board positions and help to identify candidates for next year's board. The nominating committee will present their nominations for the 2023-2024 Board Election at the May general membership meeting.

If you're interested in learning more about serving on the nominating committee, email president@agbellptsa.org.

Bell Reflections artists' work is on display at the LWSD Resource Center. You can check it out in-person at the open house tonight!

WHEN: Friday, January 20, 2023 from 5 to 8 pm
WHERE: LWSD Resource Center (16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052)

Join us in person as we showcase and celebrate the inspirational and original works of art created by student artists from local PTAs who participated in this year’s National PTA Reflections art contest, and see the winning Council-level selections moving on to Washington State PTA judging!

Art will remain on display for one week following the Open House at the LWSD Resource Center, for public viewing during business hours and whenever the Resource Center is open.

There are no enrichment classes next week 1/23-1/27.

Class dates and skip days are listed below.

Calling all students! Create the cover for this year’s Yearbook!

This year’s theme is:

The Future's So Bright - Gotta Wear Shades

What does that look like to you? Create your artistic vision, take a photo of it (or scan it), and email it to yearbook@agbellptsa.org. Be sure to keep the original art, as we may need it.

Entries due by March 1

The winner will receive a free yearbook and other entries will be featured in the yearbook. Visit the Yearbook Contest page for all details and requirements. Questions: email yearbook@agbellptsa.org.

Fifth grade families,

Finn Hill Middle School will be hosting an all-school open house, with incoming students and their families as their special guests, on January 24th. The night will start with casual socialization at 5:30, and then move on to open house and meeting portion of the event from 6:30-8pm.

Do you want to get involved with the advocacy work the PTSA does? We have some great ways to get involved:

Focus on Advocacy Week: February 6-10

Focus on Advocacy Week is February 6-10. Each day will focus on a specific issue from our Top 5 legislative priorities. During this week, community members can participate in daily calls to actions.  Subscribe to WSPTA Action Network to participate.

Focus Day Returns: February 20

Focus Day will be February 20, 2023, in Olympia. Members are encouraged to meet with their legislators about our 2023-2024 Legislative Priorities.  Use the resources in the advocacy toolkit to make appointments and plan successful meetings.
