SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 5-27-22

May 27, 2022

One of our top five legislative priorities is to prevent and reduce gun violence and suicide. During this year's legislative session, the Washington State Legislature voted to prohibit the sale, importation, distribution, and manufacture of firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. It marked one of the biggest wins in the State Legislature in recent years for gun regulations. It's not enough, but a step in the right direction. We have so much more to do. We ALL must continue to advocate! Our vote matters. Our voice matters. We must continue to fight for our children.

Guns are now the leading cause of death of American children and teens. Our society has failed our children.

Here are some actions we can take:

  • Join Moms Demand Action. Text the word "ACT" to 644-33, so the volunteers at @MomsDemand -- the nation's largest and most powerful counter movement to the gun lobby -- can plug you in to the movement.

  • Give to the Uvalde victims' families AND to structural change to help prevent future tragedies by giving at TogetherRising.org/give.
    • Every penny @Together.Rising receives this week is being equally split between: Direct financial support to the Uvalde victims’ grieving families via VictimsFirst, and investment in prevention of future tragedies via the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.

  • Contact your members of congress today to insist they work across the aisle to pass sensible gun safety and violence prevention policies. Take action HERE.

  • Contact your state legislators as well. If you do not know who your legislators are, click HERE.

Congrats to the GOTR girls who completed their end of season 5k on Sunday!

Thanks to everyone who supported the GOTR community impact project with all of your generous donations to Heroes for the Homeless!

And a big thank you to the coaches, superstar supporters, running buddies, teachers, and families for all of their support and encouragement this season! The girls built strength, social-emotional skills, confidence, and friendships. We hope they feel proud of all they accomplished!

The Egg Drop is back and we are so "egg-cited" about it! This is a super fun STEM activity and is a wonderful opportunity for students to work in teams on creative solutions that get those engineering minds working. Visit our Egg Drop page for more information.

We need supplies and help from the community to ensure this day is a success.

  • If you signed up to donate supplies, please drop them off no later than Tuesday morning (May 31). The collection bins are next to the stairs through the main entrance.

  • We still have a number of volunteer slots to fill. Please click the green button below to donate supplies or help with the event.

Bell Teachers (K-5):

We need to know the Egg Drop teams in your classroom and which students are on each team. Please have the students come up with their team names, then enter the information HERE. Our goal was to have all teams by today, May 27. If you have not submitted this info, please do so ASAP.

We PROMISE you will have fun if you join next year’s board or chair an event!

We have two board positions and a number of chair positions open for next year (visit our volunteer page to see all open positions).

Email president@agbellptsa.org if you want to grab a cup of coffee or set up a Zoom call to discuss any of these positions. We need you!!

We are just thrilled with how well the Spring Carnival & Dance turned out. What a spectacular night for Bell families — perfect weather, a great DJ, yummy treats, fun games, and a wonderful time for all of us to connect with one another.

THANK YOU to all the volunteers who made our Spring Carnival & Dance possible. Thank you to everyone who ran game stations, helped at the concessions stand, kept the line moving at the ticket booth, helped with decorations, or let us borrow your lawn games or tent. It takes many community members to pull off an event this size.

An extra shout-out to the following volunteers:

  • Erin Barr: Thank you for chairing this amazing event! You have done such an amazing job chairing the spring dance for multiple years. You knocked it out of the park for our first ever Carnival & Dance.
  • Debby Willsey (co-VP of Community Events): Your creativity and event planning skills are impressive. Those popcorn decorations, the photo booth, and all the signs you created brought the entire theme together for the night. Amazing!
  • Randee Jez (co-VP of Community Events): Not only did you jump in and get a food handler's license, so we could legally make cotton candy for the kids, you also booked the bouncy slide and handled a number of other details throughout the course of planning the event. Thank you!
  • Tammy Sittnick (now formally known as the “Cotton Candy Lady”): We had NO idea what we signed you up for when we rented the cotton candy machine. Thank you for managing the cotton candy machine for 4+ hours! Having cotton candy in your hair, eyes, nose and pretty much everywhere was not what we envisioned, but you handled it like a champ and made cotton candy for hundreds of kiddos. And thank you, Jessica Wallace, Megan Buck, and Tricia Lapitan for supporting Tammy with the cotton candy. That was definitely a team effort!

See below for photos and videos from the event.

The yearbook was finalized and submitted for printing earlier this week. THANK YOU, Dawn Matsui Liu, for volunteering so many hours to create this lovely yearbook for our community. It turned out beautifully! And thank you to everyone who uploaded photos on TreeRing throughout the year.

If you haven't ordered your yearbook yet, get your order in! Preschool students are included in the yearbook, so pre-k families be sure to get your orders in too.

You can order a yearbook by doing the following:

  1. Go to: www.treering.com/validate
  2. Enter our school’s passcode: 1015269962362510
