SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 4-22-22

April 22, 2022

In celebration of Earth Day, the Bell PTSA is organizing a community clean-up event at Bell Elementary. We hope you and your family will join us!

Thank you, Amanda Gibson, for organizing this event and for all the great work you do leading our Green Team.

Bell Community Clean-Up

  • Where: Bell Elementary
  • When: TOMORROW, April 23, 2022 (10am - 12pm)
  • What: We will spend a few hours cleaning up the school campus by planting some flowers, picking up garbage, and removing invasive species.
  • What to bring: Nothing is needed, but if you have extra buckets for collecting trash, litter grabbers, or tools for gardening, bring them along.

It’s that time of year where we get to show our appreciation to the amazing teachers and staff at Bell who have persevered with wit, creativity, and smarts, showing that they are true survivors outlasting the longest year ever! We have chosen the theme Survivor, as it just seemed fun and fitting! The PTSA would love your help in filling up the staff room with coffee and breakfast items, a trail mix bar, and stocking the break room with snacks, drinks, and some favorite classroom supplies. Visit our Staff Appreciation page for more info. Thank you, Tennile Jones, for organizing this wonderful event!

Is there a teacher at Bell that you think is amazing? If so, please take a moment to nomination them for the Outstanding Educator award.

Do you know of a volunteer who has brought value to our school community? If so, please take a moment to nominate that person for the Golden Acorn award.

The nomination process only takes a minute! Deadline: May 1, 2022

This week, the Bell PTSA brought the field trip to the students! We had the Quiet Heart Wilderness School come to Bell and teach lessons about plants, animals, habitats, and ecosystems. We created habitats for snails, explored the wooded area around us, held some cool animal skulls, and much more. Ask your students about it!

Thank you, Keri Morgan, for organizing this wonderful event, and thank you to all the volunteers who helped!

The Bell PTSA also hosted a Book Exchange this week (it's been a very busy week!).

All K-5 classrooms attended the event and each student was able to select three books to take home and keep. We also set-up a separate book exchange event for our Pre-K kiddos.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers who make this all possible, and thank you to everyone who donated books! Here is a video of the set-up along with a few pictures of the event below.

A few need-to-know items about the yearbook (visit the yearbook page for more info):

  • Photos can be uploaded on TreeRing until May 15
    school code: 1015269962362510

  • Yearbooks can be ordered anytime. Please ship them direct to your home, not the school.

  • The yearbook is put together by our yearbook chair, Dawn Matsui Liu, (THANK YOU, Dawn!) and typically ships by the end of the school year.

  • If you plan to do customized pages, complete these on TreeRing prior to May 15.

  • Preschool families: Pre-k has been added to the yearbook, as of last year. Get your photos uploaded before May 15, and place your yearbook orders!

  • 5th grade parents:  Please submit a dedication to your 5th grader in this year's yearbook! Upload a favorite photo to the 5th Grade Dedications folder in TreeRing and add a caption with your best wishes for them as they make the transition to middle school. You can also send the photo and caption to yearbook@agbellptsa.org. All 5th grade dedication photos must be uploaded by May 1.

One of the Bell PTSA's core focus areas is educational enrichment. Art with Mrs. Lustgarten is one of the many enrichment programs the Bell PTSA brings to our school. Click the video link below to learn more about the art projects in each classroom and to see some of the wonderful creations from last month.

Mark your calendars for May 20th!

Thank you, Erin Barr, for chairing our Spring Carnival. We are so excited for this event!

We have the DJ booked and we're looking forward to dancing the night away. We will have a Sign-Up Genius coming out soon, where community members can volunteer to help with this event. We will need lots of volunteers. Stay tuned!

We have a lot of ways to get involved. Please visit our volunteer page to see all the current volunteer opportunities.

All volunteers must meet the following criteria: (1) Be approved as a volunteer through LWSD and (2) Be fully vaccinated - proof of vaccination must be provided. Visit LWSD's volunteer page for more information.

As a reminder, spring pictures are on April 26th.

Only students with orders are individually photographed.

Your student brought home an order form last week. If you do not have the form (or if you prefer ordering online), you can place your order at mydorian.com. Search for our school, then click the green "Order" button next to the Spring Picture Day event, and place your order! All orders for spring pictures must be placed before 9:00 AM on picture day. Only students with an order will be photographed individually.
