SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 2-11-22

February 11, 2022

AG Bell PTSA has teamed up with GOALS Soccer Program! We are kicking off a soccer enrichment program during lunch recesses on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning February 22nd--open to all students who wish to participate. A trained soccer coach will be at recess to teach the kids the rules of the game and referee student matches.

Since this is a PTSA sponsored program, we are required to have 1 PTSA member volunteer to chaperone each class (You don't have to play, but you can if you want!). Time slots below include all 3 lunch recesses. If you are able to volunteer but not for all recesses, please indicate in the comment section which recess(es) you are available.

Sign-up to volunteer HERE

Volunteers must be current AG Bell PTSA members (for liability/insurance). If you are not a member and would like to volunteer, you can join HERE.

The Broadway Bulldogs are (finally) at it again! This year will be an online production of Wee Fairy Tales. Participation is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

  • To enroll, complete the school play form (scroll down to the "new forms").

  • Scholarships are available. If you need a scholarship to participate, please register using the school play form (scroll down to the "new forms") and enter the code PLAYSCHOLARSHIP in the promo code field when checking out.

  • In order to make play participation more accessible to all students, we have removed the PTSA membership requirement. However, every virtual rehearsal sessions MUST have a chaperone who is a PTSA member (for insurance/liability purposes). Therefore, we encourage all parents who can volunteer to please do so. If your child isn't participating in the play but you are a PTSA member able to volunteer your time as a virtual chaperone, please email producer@broadwaybulldogs.org. Thank you to our volunteers who make these programs possible.

  • Visit our school play page for more information (including the schedule)

Bell will be hosting a Girls on the Run team for 3rd-5th grade girls this spring. Practices will be held outdoors at Bell on Tuesdays & Thursdays from March 22nd - May 24th with a celebratory 5K on May 22nd. Please see the below flyer and these national and local promotional videos for more information. Space is limited: click here to register.

We welcome parents or staff members who would like to volunteer as a coach or 'Superstar Supporter'. Contact Kelly Keller for more information: kellymkeller@gmail.com.

Our next PTSA meeting is on Thursday, February 24th at 7pm via Zoom. We encourage all community members to join. This meeting is NOT limited to PTSA members; however, only PTSA members can vote.

Calling all students! Help create our cover for this year’s yearbook!

This year’s theme is: Expect the Unexpected

What does that look like to you? Create your artistic vision, take a photo of it (or scan it), and email it to yearbook@agbellptsa.org. Be sure to keep the original art, as we may need it. The winner will receive a free yearbook and other entries may be featured in the yearbook as well. Visit the Yearbook Cover Contest page for requirement details.

Entries due by March 1

Questions: email yearbook@agbellptsa.org

Thank you to everyone who voted yes on Proposition 1, 2, and 3. Per King County Elections results from 2/8, it appears that all three levies will be approved. Great news for our schools and our communities!

We are halfway through the 60-day legislative session and pleased to see movement with simple majority bonds. HB 1226 and its companion constitutional amendment HJR 4200 passed out of the House Education Committee Thursday, February 3. The simple majority bills passed out of committee by a vote of 7-6 for HB 1226 and 8-5 for HJR 4200. Public hearings and executive session were scheduled for February 7, but no action was taken.
