SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 10-8-21

October 8, 2021

October is Microsoft Giving Month! We have a number of families at Bell who work at Microsoft. Our hope is that all of our families employed by Microsoft will donate funds to our fundraiser via their employer matching program and volunteer time as well. Microsoft pays $25 for every volunteer hour!

If your employer offers corporate matching, please make a donation to Bell PTSA and submit the donation for matching. This how we are going to achieve our fundraising goal this year.

  • Fundraising Goal: $33k
  • Donated YTD: $12,426
  • # of families who have donated: 107

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. And thank you to our VP of Fundraising, Jane Helbig, who has worked diligently on our fundraising efforts for this year. Visit our fall fundraiser page for more information on why we fundraise and where the money goes.

Classrooms in the lead as of today:

  • Kindergarten = Grasst, Mrs. Grasst's class has widened their lead.... Dennehy and Lazoritz's classes are being left behind!
  • 1st = Olsen,Mrs. Olsen's class is still in the lead but only by 1 point ~ Rons or Crites could easily pull ahead to win!
  • 2nd = Whiteside, Mrs. Whiteside's class continues the lead, but will Mr. Rasor's class take over?
  • 3rd = Morris, Mr. Morris' class has taken the lead away from Mrs. Snyder's class, but only by 1 point!
  • 4th = Davies,Mrs. Davies' class continues to lead, but only by 1 point!  Mrs. Holzer's class is so close to taking over!
  • 5th = Flowers and Turnbull, The 5th grade classrooms are tied!  Who is going to win this one??
  • Quest = Nickels,Mrs. Nickel's class is taking it!  There is still hope for Mrs. Coberly's class though, they only need 2 participants to take the lead!

The PTSA recently sent a survey to Bell teachers and staff asking them if they would like a room parent, and if so, how many. For the staff members who indicated they would like a room parent(s), we have created the below sign-up. We will continue to update this sign-up sheet as more request for a room parent come in.

  • If you're interested in being a room parent, please sign-up here
  • If you're a Bell teacher/staff, please complete this survey, so we can work to get you the support you may need.

Did you know we have two school board positions and multiple Kirkland City Council seats up for election this November? Additionally, proposition 1 (i.e., the continuation of Houghton Community Municipal Corporation) is up for a vote.

The outcome of this election directly impacts our community. It is imperative that we are all educated voters who invest time in understanding the issues and assessing the candidates.

Fortunately, Indivisible Kirkland is making our homework for this upcoming election much easier by hosting a candidate forum on Sunday, October 10th from 3:30-5:30pm. This forum will focus on racial justice, equity, and climate justice issues - all council and school board candidates have been invited. Click here for more information and to register.

The Book Fair is back this year! The book fair will be held during conference week, October 11-14. It open after students are dismissed from school and will be held under the outdoor tent in the music room courtyard. (Enter the main entrance to the building and go straight through the hallway to the courtyard.)--masks required.

  • Monday (Oct. 11):  12:20-4:00 pm
  • Tuesday (Oct. 12):  12:20-4:00 pm
  • Wednesday (Oct. 13):  2:20-5:30 pm
  • Thursday (Oct. 14):  12:20-4:00 pm

Students must be accompanied by an adult to attend the book fair.

Please sign-up to volunteer at the event.
