SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 9-17-21

September 17, 2021

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated. We still have a ways to go, but we are off to a great start!

  • Fundraising Goal: $33k
  • Donated YTD: $9,007
  • # of families who have donated: 76

The Sittnick-Harris family has offered to match any donation dollar for dollar up to $1K. Please donate today to have your donation matched. THANK YOU to the Sittnick-Harris family for this extremely generous donation.

We will also start tracking participation by classroom. The classrooms with the highest amount of participation (# of families who donate) will have a class party near the end of October (more details coming out soon).

Visit our fall fundraiser page for more info.

We are excited for Bell's first Dine-Out event of the year. Dine-Outs are a wonderful way to come together as a community to support our school and local restaurants. And while these events have shifted to more of a "take-out" event due to Covid, we still love connecting and seeing other Bell families at each event. This first event will span five days! Thank you Whitney Takaba for volunteering your time to organize these events.

  • Where: Tutta Bellas - Kirkland QFC - 425 Urban Plaza
  • When: September 26th - 30th
  • How: Place your order on TuttaBella.com and enter code "EasyAsPieBellPTSA" - 20% of your order will be donated to Bell PTSA.

If you're able to, please join us on Thursday 9/23 at 9:20am for some coffee. We know how hard it has been to connect with other Bell families during Covid, so we hope this low-key event will give us an opportunity to get to know one another.

  • When: Thursday, 9/23 @ 9:20am
  • Where: Bell - outdoor (covered basketball area)
  • What: A simple, low-key gathering to connect and talk

Since coffee will be served, we understand that masks will need to be removed momentarily. We ask that everyone remain a respectful distance from one another during this event.

The Bell PTSA is proud to announce the theme for this year's Reflections of Art contest (the contest will launch soon):

"I will change the world by..."

Bell students are encouraged to enter art reflecting the theme, using dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and/or visual arts. Thank you Tennile Jones for chairing this wonderful program!

Visit our Reflections page to learn more about this national PTA program and share the theme with your student(s), so they can start thinking about what they will create! More information to follow soon.

We are thrilled to announce that Popcorn Friday is coming back! Our first Popcorn Friday will be on Friday, September 24, 2021!

Visit our Popcorn Friday page for more info.

We have a number of ways to help out and support our school. (We just added school pictures and the book fair this week!) Visit our volunteer page to sign-up and see all the ways you can help. A few things to know about volunteering:

  • At this time, volunteers are allowed in the buildings, but not in the classrooms or shared learning spaces.

  • For in-person volunteering, you must be an approved volunteer through Lake Washington School District (LWSD). Click here to apply if you are not currently approved.

  • All volunteers must be vaccinated. The district has recently implemented a new process to obtain proof of vaccination. This can be done in two ways (more info):
    • In-person at the LWSD Resource Center
    • Remotely via Microsoft Teams

Join us for a Q&A with Brian Story (principal), Sara Schmied (associate principal), Brenda Yin (school counselor), and the school nurse (TBD).
