We are thrilled to announce that Popcorn Friday is coming back! Our first Popcorn Friday will be on Friday, September 24, 2021!

Visit our Popcorn Friday page for more info.

We have a number of ways to help out and support our school. Here are a few:

  • Help out with Popcorn Friday - sign-up here

  • The school needs volunteers to help out during recess (facilitation of activities/ refereeing). If you can help, email president@agbellptsa.org. We will get a digital sign-up sheet out soon.

  • The school needs some help cutting, hole punching, and inventorying items for the new math curriculum in the next few days. Email sschmied@lwsd.org if you can help out.

  • Are you a CPA? We need a volunteer to file our taxes (990-EZ). They are due by November 15th. Please reach out to president@agbellptsa.org if you can help.

  • Our Membership Chair is looking for 1-2 volunteers to join her on the membership committee. Email membership@agbellptsa.org for more information.

  • We are seeking 3 volunteers to be part of the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is responsible for finding board members for next year (2022-23). Email president@agbellptsa.org if interested.

  • Our PE teacher, Laurin Hammond, is planning to do yoga sessions with our kiddos. She’s looking to see if anyone in our community is a yoga instructor and might be interested in being a resource for her, or volunteering to do a few yoga sessions (virtually now, hopefully in-person at some point). If interested, email Laurin at lhammond@lwsd.org or reach out to president@agbellptsa.org.

Visit our volunteer page for more ways to get involved.

For in-person volunteering, you must be vaccinated and an approved volunteer through Lake Washington School District (LWSD). Click here to apply if you are not currently an approved volunteer.

Are you looking for some spirit wear for your kiddo or yourself? We recently partnered with a new spirit wear vendor and now offer spirit wear year-round. Visit our spirit wear store to get your Bulldog gear!

As a reminder, all PTSA memberships expire at the end of each school year. If you haven't renewed your membership (or if you're new to Bell), please join today! Join all the other amazing teachers, parents, grandparents, and community members who make up our PTSA. Your membership, financial donations, and volunteering is what makes our work possible.

Join us for a Q&A with Brian Story (principal), Sara Schmied (associate principal), Brenda Yin (school counselor), and the school nurse (TBD).

Playground Update

As many of you know, the Bell PTSA has been advocating for an inclusive, ADA compliant playground for a few years (visit our advocacy page for more info). Below is an update on where things stand:

  • The project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2022.
  • The district removed the wood play structure this summer because it was deemed unsafe. An interim climbing dome is scheduled to be installed this fall.
  • The ADA ramp to access the playground is scheduled to be installed this fall as well.
  • The digging pit/sensory garden, funded by the Bell PTSA, has been completed. It is a HUGE hit!

Pantry Packs is a program to support food-insecure families at Bell. We (in partnership with the Lake Washington Schools Foundation) provide weekend food-packs to families each week. Additionally, we provide snack bins in all the classrooms to ensure any student who is unable to bring a snack to school has something to eat.

We have $3,500 budgeted this year for Pantry Packs; however it costs substantially more than this to run the program (purchasing fresh produce each week adds up!), so we do ask families to donate food to our pantry throughout the year.

Please donate food via our Amazon wishlist. And if you haven't donated to our fundraiser yet, please do so. It costs a lot of money to do the vital work we do for our community. We need your support.

And be sure to say THANK YOU to Leslie Victor when you see her. She devotes so much time to run this program (on top of being our treasurer, running Popcorn Fridays, and so much more). She gives so much to our school and we are so lucky to have her at Bell.

Visit our Pantry Packs page for more info.
