SUBJECT: Bulldog Blast 1-22-21

January 22, 2021

Historically, the Bulldog Blast has been sent to the Bell community via the school administration. With the launch of Bell PTSA's new website, we will now be sending our newsletter direct from our website. Please make sure to register on our new site so your information is up to date!

On January 21, 2021, Dr. Holmen, LWSD Superintendent, provided an update on the timeline for returning to school. Below are the key points from the email:

  • Grade K-1 return to in-person adjusted to start on February 18.
  • Asynchronous student learning continuing January 22-28 for K-1 (teacher planning and preparation).
  • Grade 2-3 return to in-person (hybrid model) adjusted to start at the beginning to middle of March.
  • Grade 4-5 return to in-person (hybrid model) adjusted to start at the middle to end of March.
  • Secondary adjustment beyond March with additional information coming.

More information can be found on LWSD's Pathway Forward Page. We have included this information as well as return-to-school information from Bell Elementary on our Family Resource page.

Did you know the PTSA provides packs of food to food-insecure families at Bell every week via the Pantry Packs program? We have made it easier to donate food. Now you can easily purchase items via our Pantry Pack's Amazon Wish List and ship the item(s) direct to Bell. These are extremely challenging times for many families. Please consider donating and supporting this important work.

Washington State's Legislative Session started on January 11, 2021. During a typical year, we would head to Olympia and meet with our legislators face-to-face during the legislative session. This year, all the work will be done virtually. This is an opportunity for all community members to take action from their home. Check out our advocacy page to learn more and to get involved.

We have a number of ways to get involved with our school community:

  • The school is looking for volunteers to help in the morning during drop-off (starting Feb 18th). Volunteers would assist with the school crossings, holding signs to help direct traffic, helping our students stay socially distanced, etc. If interested, please reach out to Brian Story at bstory@lwsd.org

  • The PTSA is looking for three volunteers to review the PTSA's financials. This is a one-time commitment and will take approx. 2-3 hours. Please email treasurer@agbellptsa.org if you can help out!

  • Other volunteer opportunities can be found on the volunteer page of our new website.

All volunteers must be approved through Lake Washington School District. Please complete the volunteer application if you have not already done so.

Support Bell via Fred Meyer Rewards

58 families donated to Bell from October through December via the Fred Meyer Community Rewards Program. Please consider linking your Fred Meyer card to AG Bell PTSA. It's a simple way to support the work we do, with no money out of your pocket. The rewards you earn will not be impacted. Fred Meyer simply donates a small portion of your purchases to our school. Learn more here.

Please upload your remote learning photos to TreeRing, so we can create a yearbook to capture this unprecedented school year. We want to see your outdoor PE lessons, your science experiments, your remote learning in your jammies. We want to capture this unique year in photos! Go to TreeRing or download the app. Our school code is 1015269962362510. If you're unable to upload the photo(s) or if you have questions, please email yearbook@agbellPTSA.org.
